The central place for all your Stitched Up Festival information with maps and the latest news of stitchy happenings around the town and further afield.  Featuring:

  • Stitching Through Time – A Celebration of 20 Years– a non-juried, non-judged community textile exhibition, vote for your favourite in the People’s Choice Awards with the winning entries receiving cash prizes
  • 20 Year Anniversary Tributeincluding visual presentation and work by Stitched Up 1999 organisers
  • Demonstrations by local craftspeople

The exhibition of finalists in the sixth biennial Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award (WCTA).  As a $10,000 acquisitive award the selection attracts contemporary textile artists on a National level and showcasing world-class innovative contemporary textile art.

To coincide with the 2019 WCTA, the winner of the 2017 Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award, Conflagrationby John Parkes will feature alongside further works which highlight the art practice of Parkes and his association with the Wangaratta Art Gallery. The winning work is proudly now part of the Wangaratta Art Gallery Collection.

 

 

STITCHY SCARECROWS BY CRAFTY KIDS

6-14 JULY, OPEN DURING BUSINESS HOURS

Post Office Arcade, Murphy Street, Wangaratta & locations throughout the CBD

Schools, Kinders and other community groups have banded together creating 2D and 3D Scarecrows for display at the Post Office Arcade and throughout the town. Check out the textile talents of Wangaratta’s young folk.

Around 40 textile artists responded to the Stitched Up challenge.  2019 will be 20 years since the first Wangaratta Stitched Up Textile Festival and this theme gives an opportunity to reflect on our sense of place over time. Created using a variety of textile techniques such as weaving, embroidery, applique and patchwork.

FIBRE – FOOD FOR THE SOUL! 156 wool crafters have created delightful accessories from an exchange parcel of 150gm of natural fibre as part of this 27th annual scarf exchange. Includes displays and demonstrations.
