MAJOR ATTRACTIONS 2008
WANGARATTA AIRPORT

Main festival venue - Greta Road Wangaratta (10am - 4pm daily, $5 entry)

'Celebrating Our Diversity’

Textile Art and Craft

Exhibits in 2008 will represent many different cultures and many different uses of textile techniques. Felt making is a very ancient technique and has been used to make dwellings and create cobwebs. Felters are exploring ways of using complementary techniques such as machine embroidery and wire sculpture with wool and other fibres. The resulting works of art are amazing. Come and see.

World’s Longest Scarf This project has produced more than 27km of scarf – all 8 ply, garter stitch and knitted on 4mm needles in 1m lengths. Visit the Wangaratta Airport and see
how scarf lengths make garments. This is your last opportunity to add to the total and ultimately contribute to charitable use. The attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest scarf will finish on 31st July 2008 and a grand measuring event will be organised for September.

Light refreshments will be available at the Airport Terminal. Visitors wanting main meals can visit some of the many regional restaurant and eateries.
